Junia (Junias)

Meaning: Belongs to Juno

the name of a Jewish Christian man in Rome who was imprisoned with Paul and Andronicus

Paul sends greetings to Junia and Andronicus and notes that they were of note among the apostles, and that they followers of Christ before him (Rom. 16:7).

It is not absolutely clear whether this name is masculine or feminine. If feminine, there is a possibility that this was the wife or sister of Andronicus. However, in the context of the situation described, it seems more likely that Junia was simply another man. This seems to be the assumption of most scholars.
